Yes, 1680s - making these books over 330 years old, and in remarkable condition for their age. It is wonderful to be able to hold them in your hand and think of the people who have held them before.
 
They are leather bound and have lovely gold decoraton on the spine and a delicate gilding on the edge of the covers too. 
 
The typography is in the old style with what looks like a letter f for s. And although printed in Amsterdam, they were for a French market and written in French. They are dated  with the publishing date in Roman numerals and the month and date the letters in each edition were written.
 
Wear includes that expected from age and use, including foxing of the pages, small losses to a few page corners, minor damage to the spine. 1684 book has a dent in its cover.
