A large and oh so beautiful thick bevelled glass and ormolu jewel box from Paris Chatou antique fair. It dates from the Napoleon III era in the second half of the 1800s.

The box is hexagonal in shape with six oval bevelled glass sides held by and ornate ormolu frame and four scrolled legs. It has a hexagonal lid, also of thick bevelled glass. One of the six glass panels has a tiny bit of damage, this is not sharp or structural, I have taken a close up and marked it with an arrow as it is difficult to see.

The oyster silk cushion is spectacular, original in all its timeworn glory which shows the decdes of use as Madame placed her jewels on the cushion to display them in this glorious case.

The box measures 6" by 4.5" by 3" high.
