A beautiful small tureen by LM&co at Creil et Montereau, the stamp dates it from 1840. It certainly shows its age, and in a very charming way. Each imperfection makes it a unique piece whch has a story to tell.

Please have a good look at the pictures. The bowl is lightly stained inside and out and is crazed. There are old bruises on the edges of both handles from much use, the handle on the lid has an old chip on one side. The handles on the bowl and lid are very ornately styled and make this tureen rise above the others!

There is a hairline on the lid on only one side, so a glaze crack and not structural. The lid has beautiful acanthus scrolls around the handle.

The tureen is 9" to the top of the handle, 7" across the opening, and just over 9" across the handles, the bowl is 5.5" tall.
