Perfect for a miniature portrait or photograph, this small but pefectly crafted frame is an absolute delight.
It has the Napolieon III motif (Emperor of France from 1852 - 1871) of a crossed flaming torch and arrows, here intertwined with the classic French decorative motif of the era, a ribbon bow. These are all crafted to a very high quality. Made in the quintessentially French material ormolu, guilded metal.
The frame has elegant detailing arround the opening and the glass intact. A special frame indeed.
On the back is a hanging ring for slipping over a pin. I wonder who's portrait it originally held?
The frame is a fraction under 2.5" tall, including the embellishment.
