An unusual design wire egg basket or old French salad spinner (they were used for this too!), with  the great addition of folding handles, so it's much more practical to use, having the whole top open to take eggs in and out without mishaps.
 
The basket is old, probably 1930s, although it could be older and the wire is patinated and slightly wonky. The basket stands steadily on its little feet or hangs by the handles.
 
The basket is 7" tall, plus handles and approximately 9" wide
