A glorious and treasures souvenir from a visit to Paris Opera in the late 1800s to early 1900s.
This beautiful trinket box has an ornate ormolu frame holding thick bevelled glass. Inside is a blue silk cushion which shows some signs of the passage of time.
This magnificant building would have been as breathtaking for a visitor 125 years ago as it is for us today so a memento of the visit, like this, to use and admire on the dressing table would have been highly valued by the original owner.
The picture of the Opera House on the lid is hand coloured and shows people in the square in front of the opera house and a couple of cars. Paris was one of the cities to first embrace cars so the inclusion of them helps to date the box.
The jewel box is in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of wear, including the owner's signature written on the inside of the lid.
It measures 3.5" by 2.5"
