This is an amazing confit pot from the South of France. A rare find from a large antique market in Paris, where dealers bring their most prized finds.
It is from the early 19th century, or perhaps earlier, and has a wonderful patination, but still holds water and can be used as a vase.
The pot has crazing through out and has delightful variations around the exterior as the glaze has been applied by hand. It is a mid ochre colour but has an iridescent sheen to the glaze, indicative of an early glaze.
It measures just over 6" tall
I have included a video of it being found in the market!
